now - or - not now

A Poem by paul

I used to fight suns
for parking space

now
I wait in line.

out of food but not
out of hunger

out of medicine
but not out of madness

I'm noticing in your writes there is a subtle dual fold current that penetrates the intellectual core of spirit and the spiritual core of psyche with every day occurences that take on extraordinary affecting layers through the use of language and word placement~

I personally prefer starved and insane heyoka to gorged and numbed~ there is a sacredness somehwhere in that~ not the every day contrived holy~ but the deep primal motions of breath~ your poem brings that interior beauty in all its surreal shapes through with insightful care~

fantastic~

when life's a stale mate

Wow.
Fighting suns for parking space
LOVE that line. This is great work
The pacing is amazing and the length is just right.
Affirms my belief that good poetry should never explain itself and wrap nice and tight in cute packages
It's like something that opens the mind to something, just like a hint.
And as the reader I run with it and love that feeling this piece gives me.

To be honest with you I'm not sure I understand the first stanza, nor do I see how the 4 stanzas fit together. I think the 3rd and 4th stanza are really cool though, being opposites, they just sound good together.
But I don't get the main idea of this poem... Sorry..i tried.

I feel Selene has described it well..the feeling that i get when i read your poems..they are seemingly so simple,so tangible and yet so surreal and so deep..the last four lines here..in particular the last two gave me goosebumps..you are such a n original Paul..who writes like this..you are totally you, totally unique..

at first I thought it would be about procrastination but I enjoyed reading that it is about patience.

"i used to fight suns
for parking space"

and now there is
an endless queue
i wonder where is
the 'me and you'

i wander alleys alone
squinting in the dark to see
what transpired after we stopped
being you and me.

your words are so full of heart

the title you have posted is appropriate to the content; you know, like 'she loves me, she loves me not'

you're not the out thing
you're surely the in thing
and that's not just something
that's all there is to everything
