why. not

why. not

A Poem by paul

why not rise up
and walk out
that door

into the blue night:

I might float away into space

I might be stung by a bee

but worst of all:
I might find love

Why not?... It really might be the worst of all circumstances to fall in love. But then... having missed the opportunity, one would never know. And then of course, you might also be stung by a bee. There is always that odd chance. Funny, falling in love and being stung by a bee are not all together dissimilar, are they? I loved this and the million little questions it raised.

and why not? so many times we hold back for no good reason, there was a smile once I thought I might love forever . . . and near as I can tell I will . . . even if I wasn't meant for him

there were other smiles, and it's so hard to tell which door is my own some days
