substitute muse

substitute muse

A Poem by paul
"

still waiting

"
abandoned at last by the muse too.
left here alone with the blank page.
and nothing to write
like a runner with no feet
a bird with no wings
a soldier with no gun
left here alone
with only this
substitute muse.

I like the reference to writer's block. Ha.
It's clever. Nice job.

Just by how lazy this poem seems ( in a good way) it fits with the central theme you're getting at.
"Nothing to write.."
The lack of capitalization helps too, and the choppy line breaks all add the the theme of having a "substitute muse"

Great job, thumbs up!

THe lack of inspiration is a beast of its own. "A runner with no feet" pretty much struck me deeply for a few reasons.

I feel you...you have done well if this is an example of not being inspired...it has a forlorn quality which lends itself to the theme so I suppose it is a successful poem. I enjoyed the brevity too...not because I am a lazy reader...but again...the theme is suited to a shorter format

Poetry comes to us in various ways, and it surprises me how.Even when there is no muse,no inspiration..it still comes to us...:)

i can imagine you sitting in a classroom, before class starts, writing this.

so the substitute muse is like antimater, and you have snuck up from under yr desk, trying to swat it like a fly

good poem, you should definatly keep writing.

. i'll say it again ... i like the substitute muse ... she has some hues that belong only to her ... she's a little new ... but she shines ... and so do you ... :) ...

it's funny how even with the muse away...ideas still come to play

your muse is smiling somewhere. I'm somehow sure of it. Runners and birds have need of feet and wings. But if soldiers could lose guns and wander home, the world might be better for it.
