a little darker

a little darker

A Poem by paul

the one last little
thing
I had
I gave away
to you

the one last little scrap
of soul I had left
I traded

for another fake smile
and a pat on the back

where am I now?

you opened the door
but my closet just got
a little darker

. ah! ... you're just so utterly brilliant ... for me this is a complexity i'm unable to negotiate ... there are those that give ... and then there are those that extract ... i love to give ... usually as i am human too and have ghastly days ... but i don't take kindly to having people extract stuff out of me ... i feel they vitiate the atmosphere ... anyway ... what's really remarkable and out of this world inspiring ... is that you wrote about it and with such amazing and sparkling simplicity that one is stunned ... and yes, emily did her magic again ... titles bring in a new hue of you ...

- a return was called for - yes it was - poignant and beautiful - i echo that with serah - that one last scrap of soul - is not the last - and its not a scrap - its precious, treasured, brilliant - many lifetimes worth of life -

this is perhaps my tenth read of this poem - over the last week - and every single time - i have been stunned into speechlessness by the precision and pain of this one - that's all i wanted to say, really - one of these days, i will come up with something better - for now - i just wanted to say that there are some songs that come free from the reins of the transactional - some songs that transcend walls and ceilings - and this is one of those rare ones

i think you're going to have to take a closer look before you open the doors...here's a little piece of advice: never go to bed with a woman until you've seen her angry...let me know how that works out, to see if it's worth trying...
