A Poem by paul

all I have is my loneliness
the end of time blinks and stares

like a strange old neon sign

hawking dreams stolen by the wind

tornadoes of madness

'spinning infinities'

and the sun doesn t like the moon
anymore

.
today
i'm just absorbed
in all i have
let time blink and stare

today
i'm just looking at neon signs
and a wind that steals without care

today
these tornadoes of madness
spin infinities to slight me

today
the sun doesn't like the moon
and light is just there to bite me

. paul ... you're my coach and my poetry teacher ... and every time i read your words ... i cannot help but gape in disbelief at your profundity and precision ... for me now ... you are a part of the universe ... a unique and precious element without which my universe would be utterly incomplete ...

this comes from Edgar Lee Master's poem "Silence", your words reminded me of these others:

A curious boy asks an old soldier
Sitting in front of the grocery store,
"How did you lose your leg?"
And the old soldier is struck with silence,
Or his mind flies away
Because he cannot concentrate it on Gettysburg,
It comes back jocosely
And he says, "A bear bit it off."
And the boy wonders, while the old soldier
Dumbly, feebly lives over
The flashes of guns, the thunder of cannon,
The shrieks of the slain,
And himself lying on the ground,
And the hospital surgeons, the knives,
And the long days in bed.
But if he could describe it all
He would be an artist.
But if he were an artist there would be deeper wounds
Which he could not describe.

We question our gifts. We wonder why circumstances would conspire against us. We scribble and stare at lonely stars. But there is always reason behind it.

all steps lead to an end - and all ends lead to new steps - all of it leads - to an endless sunrise - the moon's the house-guest, perhaps - marking time until the sun returns - the sun never fails to keep promise - the moon never outstays the welcome - but in the brief moments when they both linger - magic happens - spells are cast - stellar write, this one!!
