once the 'monsters' know their life is leashed to fantasy's stage, that 'you' are king of the hill, then you are safe...they are not the enemy, just usassimilated fractions...they come in real handy in emergencies...i talk to mine in the mirror...we get along a lot better now, as we approach one

If the walls that hold my body together could talk it would sound like the screeching of a million chalkboards with nails clawing trying to get out scar tissue is my organs and bones...liked this one very much!!

I think the monsters are really puppy dogs, looking for attention

Indeed, what do they do for a life in the end I wonder? Color it?

Aloha,
Interesting tidbit here... could be metaphors for almost any type of emotions you want to fill in the blank.
Very nice.

My monsters are yet detoxing, I fear. Wonderful pictures of truth, you paint.

You’ve said much in so few words. I was inspired to write this tiny mono-rhyme poem for you:
Monster Tantrum
Monsters need someone to scare.
We ignore them if we dare
as they sputter, as they flare
from their deep subconscious lair.

utterly brilliant.
especially the first line.
and the last.
Wise to acknowledge the beasts within... Which will you feed? A great piece to ponder, Paul.

i like the bookend lines...
biting and fighting, they cannot escape...as a poet, i trap them within my lines...
and then they become me. fighting to be free.
