Day BeforeA Poem by Patrick DaviesOptimistic and probably naive vision of what I'm anticipating. And as the moon rises tonight,
Shall I dream of tomorrow? Should I dream of what could be? Trees and their roots shall sweep by as I doze safely in my carriage Spiriting myself away from the known and through the green And onwards to the ripe yellows and peaches Frosting around a mysterious place. Almost crystal, A place of minerals and earth and the salty sea and fresher stream. As the cabin sweeps on its way, caressing the steel Parallels of the tracks, Cliffs shall merge themselves passionately with fields below. The journey ends here. The trains slows Like the sun hoisting itself above to peak, with knowledge, And opportunities and colours unfolding themselves Intricately in crisper streets and grander halls In a city far away. I shall stay here for a while. © 2010 Patrick Davies |
