The Other Side Of The CanyonA Poem by Patrick DaviesCareful not to fall in. The rivers are strong and the current is fast.Iron gates, with rusting rocks
Positioned at the base
Open in the desert breeze -
Giving birth to stony depths,
Deathly howls and crooked trees.
Carved into the canyon side, A guarding evil face.
In rivers in the void. Dark green at first, then turn to red -
They float into oblivion,
Swirling streams around my head.
The garnet, orange tumble, A dive I can't avoid. © 2009 Patrick Davies |
