the best age

A Poem by We May Well Be The Ones

Being in love is the best age.
You hide nowhere,
living off the high of white teeth
and sore limbs.

Being in love is the best age.
You believe in yourself,
Whether in bare skin or on foreign
Concrete pursuing a wish.

Being in love is the best age.
You are changed,
like the weather over California’s turf,
like the movement of a kite when earth
is breathing.

Being in love is the best age.
