A Place to Rest Your Flaws

A Place to Rest Your Flaws

A Poem by We May Well Be The Ones
"

this is a song I wrote fairly recently

"

I've seen the world in so many lights

where dreams are dull and laughs are blind

and so I stay awake to find

a shade that has yet to desribe a day

where priests and addicts are the same

I wish my lips could cry a prayer

oh god, please bless me with a colored heart

a mouth that's brave and a tongue that's smart

with these I can move forward

here there are no shackles, there're no tears

just inconsistencies and fears

but I'll hold them close and keep them near

hm... so i'm thinking that i'm going to really like your work.

first of all, you have a way with titles. titles mean a lot to me; a shoddy title can completely turn me off from a piece. i find it hard to pick a piece to read of yours, since almost all the titles lure me in :)

"and so I stay awake to find

a shade that has yet to describe a day"

describe is typo-ed- i didn't realize that until i pasted the line onto here, so i didn't mean to correct that haha - but loved these lines and the way they went together.

A cry for something... to color and revive your soul, that is the message I recieved.

I was listening to a particular song while I read your words. I could say that the euphorium of the music helped me concentrate and ultimately understand the emotions behind your poem but truly, it is the opposite. When I read, imagined, and felt the picture you were painting, I swear I could see the wondrous colors of the music penetrate my musical mind, and I saw God.

Which is funny considering that the song is called, "Losing My Religion."

Lol, but really, I think this is my most favorite poem yet. It's enrapturing but as you wonder, an overwhelming emptiness is left inside, and then you're filled with a subtle yet agonizing longing to connect with something more than your existance. It makes me want to weep.

I like your writing style. I also like the imagery in this piece. My favorite lines are,

"and so I stay awake to find

a shade that has yet to desribe a day

where priests and addicts are the same"

Thank you for writing this.
