Prayer

Prayer

A Poem by passion

Father God, I come before You humbly

Thankfully

Asking You why You’ve chosen me

Why You’re choosing me

As the mirror for the masses to see Your Face

Over my life I see Your Grace

And as I retrace my steps

I recognize that I’ve been kept

When so many times

You should have swept me under a rug

It’s just so bugged

Because

I’ve failed.

On multiple occasions

Found myself in ridiculous situations

And the sum total of the equation?

You saved me…

Raised me from the depths of despair

Unblinded my eyes that I could be aware

Loosed me from the shackles that I was

All too happy to wear

And lifted the burdens that I couldn’t bear…

In a season where so many are finding themselves in crisis

I’m honored to know that my life is

Special

That I’m being prepared to be used as a vessel

That I’ve been rebirthed

That I can unearth

The true meaning of life

Maybe even put an end to strife

Encourage the youth to stop living trife

Make a husband respect his wife...

All that?

In a lyrical cipher?

Why me, Lord?

So many have come before

But yet, You’ve brought this gift to my door

In order that I may forge ahead

Be a part of a forum that brings spirits together so they can break bread

Where they can lay down their minds on a bed

of thought

Where they can be edified

Walk out feeling alive

And ready to live the dream that their spirit truly desires.

Me?

But I’m the poster child of hypocrisy!

I got bad habits and addictions

A predilection

to cussing

And fussing

I’m ill tempered

Got the wild attitude

And You still see me as The One You would use?

I’m a work in progress!

And You’re only just beginning

But if this is me now,

I can’t wait to see the ending.

But I still drink and smoke

Shoot, I got Newports in my pocket

So what would make You choose me as the electrical socket

To power up motivation

Thought

And intelligence?

From the outside looking in

NOTHING about me is heaven sent!

But I guess that’s a matter of relevance

Only to the person who doesn’t see

My effort to move with elegance

Speak with eloquence

Act with adamance

Stand in allegiance

Unconcerned with appearance

Working diligently to be in accordance only

With You.

Father, in the Name of Jesus

I hope that my prayer reaches You

And pleases You.

I pray that You would

Make hearing the ears

And make seeing the eyes

Of the blind

Open their minds

That they may find

Wisdom

And Guidance.

And as for me?

So much lower than Thee

Not much more than a flea?

I pray that You would make me an inspiration

That thru me and my presentation

Will there come revelation

And not just a temporary sensation

Something that will spark up intelligent conversation

And newly inspired dedication to the creation

Of a You centered mind set.

If the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart

Are acceptable in Your sight

May they be a guiding light

Each one, teach one, reach one; help them get their life right,

All these things, I ask in the Name of Your Son

I hope I never disappoint You

Thanks for making me The One.

Amen.

This was so intimate. It was most certainly relatable, well, at least to me... I could connect with every word. The word choice, the placement was perfect and passionate, raw and chock full of emotions. I feel like this was such a personal offering, but it was beautifully done, and in such a way that anyone could connect with it.

"You saved me

Powerfully descriptive and stripped down. I love the raw emotion that you lay in front of God in your prayer to understand why you're allowed to think and see what you think and see.
I love how you put forth your flaws and insecurities as if you're letting God know that you're not perfect, but you're still working on being the best "Passion" you can be and that's very enduring!
Great write my love...........
