![]() Bamberg, BrieflyA Poem by pasdepoisson![]() A sonnet commemorating an extraordinary afternoon![]() We passed the Bamberg afternoon in awe, For here we found the river wide and brown-- A belt that cinched the grand medieval town-- Beyond whose banks the mighty church we saw Who sat atop the brilliant hills as throne: Like ramparts were the steeples flown, A faithful fortress built not just of stone But founded on the relics of holy bones Reposed amid the quiet, incensed air: But while the walls of great cathedrals last, Our little group of pilgrims quickly passed, And soon were reminiscing being there: Outside our sweetly sad piano bar The taxi would arrive and take us far. © 2010 pasdepoisson |
