Blurry Green

Blurry Green

A Poem by Jim Pike
"

Gatsby on display

"
How could his mind be so brazen, his brush so brash,
flicking strokes so carelessly as if I didn't care.  A background,
nothing but dark of night, a faint green light on its far side. A few
rippling moonlit traces across its lazy harbor. Oh to be in the
background! So perfectly captured: the hat, the shoulders, the
hands in pockets, longing captured precisely in a simple silhouette.
Here in the foreground, the face you cannot see.  Eyes to the light,
and somewhere, invisible heart bouncing upon the waves in need
of rescue.  How could he?
