Black Fog

Black Fog

A Poem by parker

He blindfolded me
With a thick, braided cord,
Plaited with strands of
Promises, compliments, and vows.
And I
closed
my eyes.

I accepted his darkness.
Slowly, so slowly,
I forgot the world was there.
The world was only
His words, his presence, his love.
And I
lost
myself.

In the black fog I lost my pride.
In his midnight I lost my smile.
I misplaced my inner glow
Waiting for him to light the way.
His light would never come.
He would leave me
Alone, afraid, unsafe.
But I
would find
my way.

In the depths of my depression,
When I was little more to me
Than a meaningless existence,
I found a star of hope.
A light of purest joy.
From blinded eyes my cynical self
Somehow
saw
you.
