Glow

Glow

A Poem by parker

Did you ever realize
How much I loved your innocence?
I didn't care if you weren't cool,
I didn't care if you had friends.
I loved to see your naive eyes
As sweet as cold champagne,
That looked at me like shining stars
Look on the lives of men.
I loved that harsh conformity
Had not yet claimed your heart.
Your soul still glowed silver and blue,
Your smile still shone with golden light.
It always made me smile to think
That you would never change.
You'd never compromise yourself,
You'd change for you
Or stay the same.
But it's hard for me to smile now,
Now that I can't see your soul.
Now your bright eyes have gone flat
Now your smile's no longer gold.
It's hard for me to love you, now,
Hard for me to hold on to you
When your innocence is now long gone,
Your words no longer true.
I love you because you were my hero,
Because you once showed me the way,
But I must admit I'll always miss
Your eyes as sweet as cold champagne
