Blinded

Blinded

A Poem by parker

I did not know that I was crying
Until the tears ran over my lips,
And their acid touched my tongue.

I did not know that I was empty
Until I swallowed my tears
And they fell endlessly
Into the black depths of my heart.

I did not know that I was hurting
Until I saw my pain reflected
In the eyes of those around me.

I did not know that I was screaming
Until the echoes came back
And knocked me out of my illusions.

I did not know that I was drowning
Until the air ran out
And my lungs quit fighting.
My breath came too late.

My breath came not at all.
