Remains Untamed

Remains Untamed

A Poem by parker

My heart is not unbroken
but it still remains untamed.

It's been kicked a hundred times,
abandoned and abused,
it's been disappointed,
and repeatedly been fooled.

But my heart remains untamed,
it always gets up from the dirt.
It fills itself with hope,
with conviction of its worth.

My heart remains untamed,
I can't convince it that you're gone.
I can't keep it from leaping
each time you come around.
I can't keep it from hoping
that today your mind will change,
and I can't keep it from bruising
when each day is the same.

But I will not tame my heart,
I will not shield it from the pain.
I will not miss the rainbows
because I'm afraid of rain.

My heart is not unbroken.
It is untamed and scarred and free.
