Rat Race

Rat Race

A Poem by parker

My life has been a rat race.
My life has been a maze.
The pollution of expectation
creates a murky haze.

I like to think I'm lucky,
that I'm somehow unique.
That after every valley
I'm bound to find a peak.

I hope that I stay humble.
I hope that I give thanks.
I hope I don't lose sight of the ground
because I'm busy climbing the ranks.

I don't know where I'm going,
I can't promise an easy ride.
But in this moment I can tell you
I know I want you by my side.
