The Big Star

The Big Star

A Story by Heqi Wang

What does it mean that one’s life and soul follow the same process of a star’s everlasting glow? You can think of it as the glow of one’s inner resistance to death. When the shine is gone, we peacefully embrace death, and the mirrored star turns into a black hole. But are all humans made to die? Just like not all humans can survive at their best for a long time, hidden from our vision somewhere, there are some who want to live forever to the best of their ability shining and glowing for eternity. Especially in books, they speak of vampires who live forever. These creatures survive on blood to nourish them and that’s all they seem to need. Then there must be some hint to human existence, that the possibility of living forever is attainable and it’s just reachable to our fingertips. In real life, you may see these people always in high spirits, high self esteem, living life and prolonging life to the fullest. They are physically fit, eating well, and socially active.  Their spirit never dies. And that is when we surpass the life cycle of a star. We can no longer use it as a practical comparison except in the concept of the previous beliefs that stars shine forever. Another example stated in the bible is that “the infinite cosmos of space and time, created in the beginning by God, was created to last forever, and God cannot fail in His purposes(Ecclesiastes 3:14). People believed the celestial God and the magical cosmos will last forever. This is another comparison. God isn’t real and stars do not last forever, because they haven’t been given life in the first place. The ones who truly live forever are humans. All humans have a God, a real person who is able to fulfill the requirements as the higher power. The ones who want to live forever but are not god are the workers, or the stars. Workers will pay and tend to their duties. It makes perfect sense. As new technologies develop and a god is born, humans can truly advance to the age where they live for eternity.
