written for someone who still might care

written for someone who still might care

A Poem by dan zayas

i miss your eyes and they way they make me feel

like a child, amazed at the world

just and pure at heart.

able to push forward and light the darkest of hours

because i know that fire resides deep within

the missing flint

the sulfur tip.

the spark that gets lost sometimes.

that would be you and i.

a blazing fire engulfs the land and we watch it burn.

only to be rebuilt -

the hours we've spent searching for another

the empty nights looking at the city lights

wondering if you still feel the same way i do now.

Very touching poem. Love lost is well explored subject matter but I still enjoy everyone's unique spin on the subject. My favorite aspect of your poem is how you use the "fire: analogies throughout.
