maybe. just maybe.

maybe. just maybe.

A Poem by dan zayas

it'll take awhile before i get it right

and here i stand - praying for a better day

maybe, just maybe i'll take a hint

learn to read others they want they want to be read

and somewhere i heard

only the stupiest and wisest of men never change

nights i wonder - where i fit.

because i feel i do not change.

if i did, i'd get something different every now and then.

but still i lap myself on an empty track.

on a bright day watching the crowd gather at the park

down the street...

maybe, just maybe i'll find what i'm looking for

or maybe, just maybe that certain something

or someone will find me...

but it'll take awhile before i understand.

it'll take a great while before i lay down,

in the many places i've never seen

people call out my name -

in hopes that i'll travel.

in hopes that i'll tear my roots out and become

so free that the universe will vibrate

and make the world dance.

and shake into the break of day.
