waiting on a call

waiting on a call

A Poem by dan zayas
"

...when we become less than what we thought...

"

Waiting on a phone call that would be I

Waking up without seeing that again would be I, myself, I

And on this daylight savings Time. Every second seems to fall sour every glance falling short.

Failing, that would be i. Becoming a number before a man.

Doing shots and trading wounds Still I fail. Still I fall

Waiting on a phone call that would be I.

This is very poignant and relate-able...i really like the metaphor and the way that you used "I". It has a melancholy affect and an honesty that many people feel but cannot express in the same way.
Maybe your next poem should be titled, "Making a call." :)
Take care!
