five possibly pretentious short poems. it's been a while.

i.

just because a light flickers

doesn't mean that it's weak

just because a heart's broken

doesn't mean that it will leak

ii.

a candle isn't appreciated until it's dark

you

giving light

to someone

who believes it was always there

iv.

there's a difference between

candlelight and sunshine

there's a difference between

bye and goodbye

sometimes i wonder

what my life would look like

without your light

(a little bit like night)

Thank you for entering my competition.

I particularly liked the line
'a candle isn't appreciated until it's dark'

It really spoke to me. So many thoughts were provoked from just a few of your words. The word 'appreciated' especially.
It made me consider how it is difficult sometimes to live in the moment and appreciate the company of others, especially with the ever changing nature of our world. But something as small as a flame can ignite the beauty we miss when lost in the screens of our phones or even our own minds.
