Alphabet Soup

A Poem by L

It was brave of those words
To grace my lips,
Raw and blistered as they were,
From trying to pronounce
More empty sounds

It was brave of them
To seek me out,
Fighting their way
Through battlements and barricades
And other such things
Beginning with B

I think they may
Have lost a few syllables
Along the way,
Which wormed their way
Into the gaping mouths
Of my audience; all gasps
And stuttered applause

When flattery fell
It was most considerate of them
To leave black
As, after the last letter left,
I lacked explanation
And so instead,
Was found
Feigning sleep

oh this is clever. literally, this is word play. I like the significance you have assigned to the sounding out of words. Sleepy words, words with abducted syllables. well done and viva la

'Fighting their way
Through battlements and barricades'

Another poem looking at words and in particular speech. Here language grows bold in front of the audience fighting for expression. i love this sense of language exposed.
