Departure

Departure

A Poem by L

i met sorrow once
in a solitary tear
of the one who is left;
embraced by arms
that were not mine

and she was in every step
of the wanderer;
tracing his absent pattern
through an empty house

but You were there, even then;
in the strength it took to smile.
in the absence of words too,
You were there

in the broken depth
of human sorrow;
where the only stir
is the cry of silent prayer,
You were there

This was so touching. I can feel the sadness, "...tracing his absent pattern through an empty house." And as sad as it is, you still convey a message of hope and comfort, hanging onto the idea that our loved ones remain with us in a different form. Well written.

Double sad, a feeling of total emptiness exudes from the work. Quality.

You have an excellent way of writing, and the drop of imagination when it comes to the perfect way of an maybe almost apathetic person can suffer of... and how the world arround can handle... Goosebumps, because it touched me, and this is of recognizable ways. Very well work.

my father died when i was quite young...early onset alzheimers....it was like he was dead years before he actually died...but he still "visits" me in my dreams often, and when he does, he is sound in body and mind...these are the strong emotions your poem raises in me....that sense of moving on, but with the loved one always there....excellent

I like the transparent deconstructionism in this, the oddness of the person. Original like heck, decent in sentiment.

I don't suppose our loved ones ever leave us entirely. Their influence in our lives is always felt...somewhere. Sad and melancholy, I think of my father.

i found every stanza so full of meaning. this was so well written. another really excellent poem.

i like "she was in every step of the wanderer", it reminds me of how i shuffle along all slow when i'm broken hearted.

the last stanza was my very favorite part though. maybe because it's a truth i hadn't had words for til now.

Simple and beautiful, yet with so much more woven into the poem that is left unnamed. This is very powerful and inspirational and leaves the reader with quite a bit to reflect on. Brilliant
