Be Still and KnowA Poem by L
I once heard it said that in the beginning,
before the earth had taken even her first screaming breath, there was truth. I heard that the mountains were built upon it and that is why they hide their faces in the clouds. I searched for truth once; traveled to the mountains and wept at their mighty feet, for I had not the faith to move them. I had the hands though, and stone by stone,I brought them down, and more, and more, until the earth was mountain and the mountain, sea. But neither was truth, and for that I cried and cursed the very breath that made them to be. And my shouts, at that moment, served only to drown out, a certain gentle whisper that is truth.
