Death by Candlelight

Death by Candlelight

A Poem by L

Have you ever watched joy burning
Languidly casting solemn sorrow shadows
On restless walls

Have you reached out
To feel it
Swallow it
With open hands
Only to draw back your fingers
Naked and scorched

Have you watched it
Carelessly dripping off table tops
Steady streams
Lost to bursting ground

Have you wanted it
Deep deep and longed
and seeing it dance
In flickering excess
Healed your useless hand
With tears
Because
You could not hold it
And stagger from the room
To show them

Have you ever known and smiled and sunk?

I have yes, but you? This sounds like a garden with out the fairy's. 'Have you ever known and smiled and sunk?' really is a splendid keystone.

~ i'm astounded by this piece of poetry... it reminds me of the phase in my life when my dreams came true but i was looking at those moments... and they already seemed like they'd come to an end... and they did... and... i'm still looking for why... and hoping that the truth will liberate me even if dreams don't return to reality...
