Forgiven

Forgiven

A Poem by L

Man shook
Heavy off his coat
The wind had snuck
Still through sleeves
And so his admission to skin
To live permanently permeable

He need not check another bottle
To know only that it's empty when done
Or see another smile the same
It was enough

Preferring knees to
Feet forgotten
Foreverness like some dark corner
Where he thought he'd felt something
Once
Flimsy through words
Shallow
As a dead man's breath

All was light in his eyes
In his face
Hands
Shaking
Sole from soul
Admittedly alone

No more
