More Than a
Contradiction
Broken promises, wonderful
lies,
Why didn’t I see them
in your eyes?
What happened to ‘you
and only you?’
Was your ‘I love you’
also untrue?
You swore we’d always
be together,
That we would tie the
knot forever.
But I guess forever is
just a word,
T’was a line from theater
of the absurd.
Apparently, a s**t
opened my eyes.
I confronted you and
your disguise.
But what you said hit me
to the gut,
You said you love me,
but also that s**t.
I know I can’t be
everything you want,
She has some things
that you want to flaunt.
Complimentary more than
contradiction,
Me plus her equals your
lovely addiction.
But still, there’s a
reason why we only have one heart for affection,
And that is to love and
accept one person despite the imperfection.
