More Than a Contradiction

More Than a Contradiction

"Can you love more than one person at one time?" ~I made this for a contest :))~

More Than a Contradiction

Broken promises, wonderful lies,

Why didn’t I see them in your eyes?

What happened to ‘you and only you?’

Was your ‘I love you’ also untrue?

You swore we’d always be together,

That we would tie the knot forever.

But I guess forever is just a word,

T’was a line from theater of the absurd.

Apparently, a s**t opened my eyes.

I confronted you and your disguise.

But what you said hit me to the gut,

You said you love me, but also that s**t.

I know I can’t be everything you want,

She has some things that you want to flaunt.

Complimentary more than contradiction,

Me plus her equals your lovely addiction.

But still, there’s a reason why we only have one heart for affection,

And that is to love and accept one person despite the imperfection.

So... Can we love more than one person at one time? Yeah, I think so. I read it somewhere that being in love with two people is more of complimentary than contradiction. What do you think? :))

This is gorgeous! Such an amazing poetry! I love how you changed the writing style to accentuate some of the words!

In my personal opinion, no you can't love more then one person at a time, one will always be a stronger feeling then the other. Usually the second, coz consider this: If you loved the first person so much, why did you fall for the second?
Great read :)

I believe somewhere time the word "love" got twisted. I believe we can love many people. Many kinds of love. We must be careful. Must create limits and hold on to the people we need in a life. Your poem open the doors to many questions. Each of us must test life and hope in the end. We have a good ending. Thank you for a outstanding poem.

Beautiful, but sadly true in some cases. The flow is near perfect, and I loved the way you ended it. Yeah, I believe that we can love more than one person at a time, I mean, there are like, 10 people in my family right? Nah, only kidding, really though, it's possible, but you'd have to split your attention so much that it seems like the two people don't feel enough love when you only give them a part. Great job here! Keep it up!

it's true that you can love two persons but you can't give them equal amount of love...
i like the lines:
I know I can’t be everything you want,

She has some things that you want to flaunt.

Complimentary more than contradiction,

Me plus her equals your lovely addiction.

Yes you can love 2 people at the same time, but true and real love will last longest only for one special one imho....love the poem, great ryhming flow, and thought provoking too, awesome stuff xD

One person can't have two equal lovers, true you could like both of them, but one day you will be forced to choose. I think this poem put this in perspective very well. Good job!!!!:)
