Iccarus' Love

Iccarus' Love

A Poem by Flora

"Oh when will he be back?"

He said he wouldn't be long.

He just wanted to try them out.

Stretch his wings sort of speak haha.

I told him it was dangerous.

That the wax would melt if it got to hot.

But he just smiled and patted my shoulder.

like I was a dumb chit who knew nothing of life.

Well I know a few things.

I know I love Iccarus!

I know I wanted to go with him.

To see the beauty of the earth from way up high.

And I know he should have been back by now.

He said he loved me yesterday!!!

He promised we'd be married!!!

Even though his father doesn't like me.

He doesn't like anyone or anything.

Well except leaving here.

But Iccarus he's not like his dad.

He wouldn't get all worked up with flying.

He wouldn't get to close to the sun and risk

everything.

I may not know a lot but I know he is to smart for

that.

I'll just wait here in the shade for a while.

It really is hot today.

Surely he won't be long.

He promised he'd be right back.

He promised......
