The Armor of God

The Armor of God

A Poem by Flora

The Armor of God

How can we stand in so much pain.

How will we endure this life?

Tho given sunshine along with rain.

There is still so much pain and strife.

Emotions are stretched and feelings abused.

As life knocks us down again.

We search for the meaning, for the truth.

As we stand back up again.

Who will help us to battle life's trials?

Is their anyone strong enough who can?

So many people who mean well.

But so few who really understand.

But don't lose heart my dear one.

This fight is not your's alone.

You've been given a map to guide you.

And a suit of armor to fight off life's blows.

So put on the belt of truth.

Wear if for the world to see.

Given by God to you.

To fight the lies this world believes.

Wear the breastplate of righteousness.

To cover your heart that God loves.

He sees inside beyond the scars.

And the doubts that you are never good enough.

And with your feet fitted with the gospel of peace.

You can stand tall among the enemies you face.

God's peace is unlike any given on earth.

A gift he's given us to finish life's race.

In all of this take up the shield of faith.

To extinguish all of Satan's darts.

Tho fire is hurled it will not burn,

or consume any part.

Take up the helmet of salvation.

Which his Son Jesus Christ can give.

It is yours for the taking.

It brings joy to the soul and a new zealous to live.

Last pick up the Sword of the Spirit.

The Bible, the word of the King.

Immerse yourself within it.

And see the victory that it brings.

Once you are dressed in this armor.

The pieces all in their place.

Stand with your faith in God's promises.

And rest in the gift of his grace.

For we never fight alone.

And Satan can not win.

As long as we wear the armor of God,

And fight for a world caught in sin.

Whatever foes you're facing.

Be it flesh or spiritual kind.

God has guarenteed us a victory.

In the sand he has firmly drawn his line.

So hold on to the knowledge,

that good comes from life's pain.

And tho you are lost in the eye of the storm.

The sun will shine again.

Your witness will bring many blessings.

This isn't the end of your story.

Maybe this storm you are facing,

Is God's way of bringing him glory.

Count it wonderful to be tested.

Feel privileged to walk through life's flames.

For when you stand before God,

you will have no blemishes or know no blame.

You will see the many people,

Whose hearts and lives you've changed.

And you will look back on this storm,

and see God's plan within the pain.

Heaven will be sweeter,

for the fight you fight today.

And when the storm is over,

You will reach for God and say...

I put on the armor of God.

I fought and have won the fight.

And life will be better because of it.

Where there was darkness now there is light.

I pray you find this comforting.

I pray you read it well.

And put on all of God's armor.

For his armor never fails.
