First Snowfall

First Snowfall

A Poem by Jamie Wilkinson
"

A sonnet about first snowfall.

"

Silver slivers sprinkled over darkness,

Cloaking scum encrusted lifeforms in play,

Derived by deranged deceptive artists,

Hidden within our plight of pure decay.

A stainless silken canvas we adorn,
With lacerations quickly forgotten,

By sightless eyes evading what is torn;

A slow reveal of all that is rotten.

Recall false fronts hide more than what is waste,

Smothering marvels mistook for dismal,

Though cleanly crystals make aesthetic grace,

Beauty is not a pleasing visual.

Become aware to what this blanket hides,

Elegance often entails many lies.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it ^_^
Very true words and great imagery clearly elucidating the deceptions of life dressed up in fine raiment, like the snow hides the rotting vegetation after Autumn's fall.
