Shangri-la

Shangri-la

A Poem by Pankaj Lohia

sometimes I wonder
the mere reason for existence
sometimes I think
how strange is it to be anything at all

the magnanimity of the universe
the profoundness of the sky
is all this for real?
or just another dimension of your mind?

where can I find peace?
where can I find wisdom?
        the answers to the inexplicable
        the reason for the unfathomable
where can I find serenity?

I walk the path of tranquility
looking for the answers to the why
beyond the mountains of the world
         beyond the dark blue sky
realm of the visible world did not suffice

said to me a wise man
          u seek the right answers
          but at the wrong places
look within thy self and rise
for everything outside is just an illusion

the soul is your immaculate master
for it feeds on knowledge
it encompasses the world within
it is the heaven on earth
          the place for eternal peace

          the garden of eden
the power you seek in idols
so near yet so far..

the source of happiness that you desire
the sadness and animosity that dwells within
you are the reason for that too
for in your own hands lay the choice!
