Slipping

Slipping

A Poem by brenda conjelko

She feels him slip away

and his heat leaves her body

as his weight moves aside.

In one motion

they are on the floor

struggling gracelessly into clothes

and counterfeit conversation.

They collect themselves

preparing to leave

walking carefully, calmly

down the steps from her room.

With every footstep,

her heart hammers with the realization

that she'll only be meant for stolen moments

and so many will be spent

watching him walk away.

My first read and comment of a piece from this new place, an affair no less and one with short and almost abrupt emotion maybe, not sure at all how far to go with my comments so will say little ;-) I must admit to liking what I read... but, would 'nit' a tad with its construction, eg: why not;

feeling his warmth slip away..

Brendan.
