Pappy

Pappy

A Poem by Pandy7197
"

memories of my daddy and how he's always stood by me, when no one else could

"

When I was little i had a favorite

He was your daddy, tough and strong

When he left, we both cried

You tried so hard to move on

I cried and cried, you saw me cry

You helped me through my pappa's death

Even though you were hurting too

I guess I know now what love is

You and mom didn't love her like me

But she was part of the family

She barked and growled and everything

When she bit my sister, you screamed

Then I ran in and stopped your rage

On the way to the vet, I cried because I knew what would come

I held her and I let go. You held me and comforted me

I guess I know now what love is

My pain grew stronger every day

For a while when he went away

You never liked him, but I loved him so

You always told him to stay away

But the day he left

You held me tight

You told me I'd move on and be alright

I guess I know now what love is

Throughout my life you've protected me

You've tried so hard to help me see

The pains in life can be cured, with just a little TLC

You've held me when I cried

You've told me that it would be alright

I love you daddy, and you've shown me

Everything that I can be

I guess I know now what love is
