The monster

A Poem by Alexis L. Thompson

A shadow right below my feet
on an empty, ghost town street.
From the pavement rises heat.
And all I see is a monster.

A mirror here with fogged up glass.
Showing reflection as I pass.
So I try to move on fast.
Before I see the monster.

Picture  hanging on the wall.
Whispers slowly, my name called.
Knock it down and watch it fall.
For all I see is a monster.

A monster is what I've come to be.
It's something I kept secretly.
but now it's time to set me free.
because in me is the monster.

I love the way it's all flowy and elegant and then its all "Fore all i see is the monster" it's a nice little addition for a pretty poem. I love the rhyming and this definitely is one of my favourite poems. I'm going to add it to my library now. Thanks for sharing, Alexis, I look forward to reading some more of you terrirfic work.
