The monsterA Poem by Alexis L. Thompson
A shadow right below my feet
on an empty, ghost town street. From the pavement rises heat. And all I see is a monster. A mirror here with fogged up glass. Showing reflection as I pass. So I try to move on fast. Before I see the monster. Picture hanging on the wall. Whispers slowly, my name called. Knock it down and watch it fall. For all I see is a monster. A monster is what I've come to be. It's something I kept secretly. but now it's time to set me free. because in me is the monster. © 2012 Alexis L. ThompsonReviews
