Will you?

Will you?

A Poem by Alexis L. Thompson

When we depart from this cruel world
                           And learn to walk above

Will you walk beside me still
                         And promise all your love?

When He takes us from this place
                          and gives us golden wings

Will you watch and guard me still
and swear you'll wear your rings?

When our heads are halo crested
                                 and glittering, aglow

Will you wish the best for me
                       and pray, bowing head low?

When we float to the pearly gates
                           and feel almost carefree

Will you ask the Heavenly Father
to let you stay by me?
