Chapter 21

A Chapter by Pam

-James-

I searched for Rosalind. Once I found her, I couldn't believe it. She was sitting with that Michael guy. Why? He had his arm around her. My jealousy at that moment went through the roof. I realized that I had lost her forever. Rosalind would be with him forever. She doesn't love me. She truly never has. It was just something to pass the time; like a spring fling. I walked over to them and stood behind their chairs. Rosalind had her purse hanging on the seat.

She heard me and turned her head, "James, what are you doing?"

"I was just looking for you, that's all. What are you doing?"

Rosalind gave me a dirty look, "I don't have to answer to you."

I picked up her purse and unzipped it.

"What ever you're looking for you can have, as long as it isn't money or my phone," she told me.

"Don't worry, I don't need any of those," I assured Rosalind and picked a pocket knife out of her purse.

What kind of chick just carries around a pocket knife in her purse?

I glanced around before putting the knife in my dress pants pocket, making sure no one would notice. Those fools. I hung the purse on the back of her chair and walked away.    "Sorry," a girl apologized after she ran into me.

I looked her up and down, "It is alright."

She held an empty martini glass in her left hand. "It was all my fault. I wasn't paying attention where I was walking," she explained and started to giggle. This chick was definitely drunk. I looked away and rolled my eyes.

"My name is Delilah," she held out her right hand.

I stared at it, not wanting to touch her germy hand. Delilah took my response as rejection and put her hand back to her side. I tried to ignore her and continued to walk toward the church, but she stopped me.

Delilah tried to keep her balance and pointed at me with one finger, "You know," she paused to inhale and exhale, "I heard that the sister was a nurse at the hospital near here." She walked away stumbling. Wait a second. The sister's name was Selina. She worked at the hospital here? That nurse. That must have been her! She was short and brunette.
