Chapter 6

A Chapter by Pam

-Rosalind-

Sirens were blaring all around me. That was the only thing that could wake me. I opened my eyes slowly and leaned my head against my hand. "Uhhh," I groaned. Once my sight was clear, I realized I had been laying in an ambulance for who knows how long.

"What happened?" I asked the two men sitting on either side of me.

They glanced at each other sharing my confusion.

The guy with blond hair inhaled and exhaled deeply, "Well, Miss," he hesitated. "There has been an accident involving you and some other driver."

My mouth opened in shock, "What do you mean by 'accident'?"

He looked down at me and then up at the other guy with a concerned face.

            I suddenly felt worried, "What!?"

The other guy sighed, "We can't tell you much...."

"Alright, we should be prepared to go now," a police woman walked over and gripped the ambulance doors.

            I stared at her rudely.

"Is there a problem, gentlemen?" she asked with a stern voice.

They glanced at each other, "Nope, no problem," they answered in unison.

"Well that's what I like to hear," she smiled, "The girl is to go to the hospital where I will question her further."

            They nodded.

She motioned for them to both exit the ambulance. I kept my eyes on her the whole time as she sat down near me. As I continued to stare at her, she looked down at her nails. I followed her eyes and noticed how they were dirty, non-painted, and freshly cut.

"I know. You're confused. I get it. When you are at the hospital, it will be my job to ask you questions about the accident. Don't stress too much. You'll just have to give me the details about what you remember."

Her eyes met mine as I looked away from her nails. I was speechless. The two men came back in and she partially stood up. Her uniform was annoyingly wrinkled. I caught a glimpse of her name tag; Patt.

Patt banged on the ambulance with her left fist, "She's all yours!"

She stepped out of the ambulance and let the men sit on either side of me again. The doors closed and the siren started going off. I yawned and attempted to stretch my arms out. The blond stopped me and forced my arms back down with the intention of decreasing pain from any possible injuries. Oh great. I'm stuck in an ambulance and can't even try to enjoy it one bit. A sudden thought crossed my mind- James, I need you here right now. I miss you- and my eyes closed again.
