Wayward Son

Wayward Son

A Poem by ESWriter
"

This was an emotional poem for me to write. My son, who had so much going for him, got into drugs and trouble. I had done some dumb things as a teen but never anything close to the trouble he was in.

"

I cannot see you the way they do

With their frowns and shaking heads

My little boy can't lie to me

Again and again and again

Was I not clear

When I spoke of my fear

That you would repeat what I did

But No you did more

I asked you to stop

Don't follow my past

Do better than me

See the struggles I have

Can you not hear me

Where is my little man

Blonde curls Mommas boy

Did I mess you up

Did I let you down

I could kiss away a cut or bruise

I could defend you and your ways

But now I am numb with nothing to say

But I love you

I love you

I love you

Please hear HIS voice if you do not hear mine

My tears are for you and the life you left behind

I have had no training in writing, I purposely left out all punctuation on this. I just wanted the words to be there ... that is all.
