![]() The GreetingA Poem by Nina C Palmer![]() Taking a chance at love![]() With gentle pause I look your way And your eyes linger over to me. The stare sets upon the air Like the scent of salt over the sea.
The second hand strokes forward And still our eyes are held Upon each other’s longing gaze Mesmerized by the waters to sail.
A life can flash before our eyes, In a moment such as this. We could count the pending days Filled of turmoil but possible bliss.
We fear the future failures But anticipate its pleasure. Shall we let this moment pass Never to greet each other?
To cross this crowded room Is to venture over a raging sea. Filled with tides of emotion Of love, fear and glee.
And yet I breathe and take forth Steps of eager faith and withheld fear, To mark my path into the unknown And embrace the moment that is here.
My stomach sways like crashing waves As I look now so closely into your eye. They are as green as coral reefs When seen above from the sky.
Your warm hand sets upon mine And calms the chill of my nervous
fingers. You smile at me with gentle lips As the word “Hello” anxiously lingers. © 2014 Nina C PalmerReviews
