On a School Night

On a School Night

A Poem by Britteny
"

the rush that comes with breaking curfew when your a young reckless teen....

"

It's 11:40 on a school night

As we drive into the we hours

I don't know where you're taking me

But it better near here fast

It's 12:05 on a school night

Boy do I love you so blind

Kidnapping me sweeping me away

All I can hear is the hum of the motor

As all remains so deathly silent

It's 12:30 on a school night

And still our ride rolls on

It must be worth the wait

Where the street lamps are spread out

And there's only the sound of crickets

It's 1:10 on a school night

We finally stopped in paradise

Where stars twinkle so bright

I have a notion why I'm here

As you lean close to me

It's now 1:50 on a school night

Or so the dashboard clock reads

For when you kissed me time stood still

I knew exactly why questions were asked

Those secretes that such can only be said

At 2:00 on a school night

Very well constructed piece. It flowed like water off of a deltoid leaf. Beautiful! I know all to well about breaking curfews...and it wasn't even after 10pm lol. Talk about strict dad! Good read/job! Keep exercising your wonderful gift!
