Lost and gone the ducks at the pond

To leave their mother and enter the world beyond

I do not know what your future holds

Or if life will leave you in the cold

I do know that I will indeed morn

The loss of your memories and ideas born

Watching your thoughts take flight

Your dreams are never out of sight

So much that I want to say to you

My parting words so pure and true

Never thought this day would pass

Thought this time would always last

But such is life we both move on

No time to miss memories gone

These quick 6 years

Will often bring up tears

But I am happy in the end

You could call me a teacher and a friend

The ducks are an apt metaphor for all life, including human. Time rolls ever onward as we seek our fortunes in an uncertain world. All is ever changing, but nothing truly real is ever lost.
