Haven

Haven

A Poem by Paige

Has anyone ever told you,
You're like a safe haven for the broken.
A shelter for these storms,
A home for the homeless at heart.
Your mind is like thunder,
Your words are like rain.
And every word you speak leaves a stain,
Like wine on a white carpet.
You're never getting out,
You're mind is a battlefield.
You're being held at gunpoint,
Do good and be good;
But you feel so bad.
The safe haven you have created is not for you,
You're fighting battles on your own, you always lose.
You save others, but you can't save yourself,
Your mind is not your home, you live somewhere else.

have felt this at times...extended...bent several ways at once...
seeming like the medic on that battlefield....but suddenly blown away with my own munition...
i really like your writing, Paige.
