Collecting Dust

Collecting Dust

A Poem by Paige

You love too hard,
You fall too fast.
These feelings you're chasing will never last.
They will leave you empty inside,
As they carry away your pride.
You can't meet someone's soul,
When they haven't even met themself.
They will always put you on a shelf,
For safe keeping at their own convenience.
They pull you off the shelf,
You'll still be there.
Ready to be held,
Hoping to be loved.
And then you're back on the shelf,
Fading and collecting dust.
This isn't a fairy tale,
You weren't made for a shelf.
Stop giving yourself to people,
That won't even give you themselves.
