Sea full of Diamonds

Sea full of Diamonds

A Poem by Paige

You're just a rock in a sea full of diamonds,
You match with the surface, you don't have a purpose;
Stepped on your whole damn life.

You sink to the bottom, your edges are cracked,
You're not shiny, just and an old artifact;
Maybe some day you'll catch someone's eye.

What they can't see inside you,
Are the sparkles that collide in you;
You're not a diamond, but you're beautiful.

Not a diamond in the rough,
But you were made so tough.
Your cracked edges show your sparkles,
No longer stepped on in the darkness.

You have finally learned to shine.

Gosh, I think a lot of us feel this way.. overlooked, taken for granted, a doormat for other people to wipe their muddy boots on. You hit that sentiment on the nail. I like your twist of hope especially - you say "You're not a diamond" but "Your cracked edges show your sparkles", which makes me imagine something even more unique than what a diamond has to offer. I like that perspective. =)
