Chains

Chains

A Poem by Paige

I'm too free spirited,
For a man with chains.
But I was bound by you,
Each and every way.

The way you walked,
The way you breathed.
The way you touched my cheek.
You barely got to see my heart.

And you broke it anyway.

And tomorrow is hopefully easier than today,
I'm learning to walk away, or die if I stay.
Because walking away when you're drowing,
Is like trying to stand in a wave.

And I'm being washed away.

Free spirits break,
When you give your heart away.
The wrong hands will grab you,
The waves will drown you.

I miss being bound by your chains.
