White Carpet

White Carpet

A Poem by Paige

It seems like everything I've been trying so hard to hold together,
Is getting ready to burst at the seams.
This box that I've packed my heart into,
Is leaking all the more.
Holding myself behind this door,
Holding back this pain.
And now these tears are slipping out,
Burning down my face.
Leaving blood stains on this white carpet,
That I always kept so clean.
Because I always kept the dogs in the kennel,
But they're whining to get out.
And while I used to keep them trained,
They're dying to rip apart these pages on the floor,
The one's I wrote from scratch.
Pen to paper, pills and bottles, boys and drugs.
All the things I've kept in these pages.
So neatly written on paper, they are scrambled in my brain,
And now nothing is the same.

Let me out of this damn box,
Before my whole world breaks.
