A Season’s Tragic Song

A sonnet inspired by Shakespeare's sonnets.

Spring starts of as a fairy tale, a story.
A love between a princess and a prince,
Childs wonder of love in all its glory,
A wonder she has not felt since.

Through time she has grown and left love behind,
In pursuit of crushes and handsome boys,
Forgetting the love she once hoped to find,
And Summer brought laughter and new joys.

As Leaves Fall she started to remember,
The heaviness in her heart dragging low.
For all the heartache she knew last September,
And the tears of pain began to flow.

Winter brings her freezing snow and frost.
She never found love but at what cost?
