Troubles of an Army Wife

Troubles of an Army Wife

A Poem by K. Carver

I guess I'll just lay here
'til I fall asleep
but I know if you were here
all I'd need is your heartbeat.

I guess I'll just stand here
staring at your smile
while you lean on your rake
beside the leaves in a pile.

I guess I'll just sit here
with your hand firmly in mine
because it always makes me feel
like everything will be fine.

And I guess I'll just cry here
and hope to see you soon
and wish for your return
underneath this clouded moon.

Hard life for the spouses of the Soldier. Kids and wife need attention. I was a Soldier for 15 years. I saw the sadness every time I deployed. I like the way you told the story in the poem. A strong ending to a excellent poem.

Being retired from the Navy and the one who always got sent away, my perspective was on the other side, but I relate very well. Military life is extremely hard on families, but probably on the wife most of all. She has to keep things together while the husband is gone, take care of things she has never taken care of before, and when he returns, hand it all back over and resume her previous, more subserviant role.

About
Yes. Well. Not much to tell, so not much to read. I write poems, mostly. I'm breathing with life. I don't believe that I'm quite successful at either. I do ask one request of anyone who may read this:.. more..
